FAQ: Beginners Course

Is ninjutsu just a set of different arts, like judo, karate and others?
No. Ninjutsu is a warrior art, created before more than 1000 years, while the above mentioned arts were formed in the beginning of 20th century. Even more, ninjutsu is (together with other warrior arts of ancient Japan actually the source for many of today's martial arts, and not vice versa. You CAN'T AND WON'T get ninjutsu by mixing judo, karate and other arts.

Are there tournaments, competitions in ninjutsu?
No. Ninjutsu is not a sport, but a warrior art, used for selfdefence and surviving in real combat. It would be impossible to transform it in a form suitable for competitions, without losing it's traditional spirit. Competitions demand rules, and rules bring limitations on techniques allowed, and real combat has no limitations or rules like weight category, number of opponents, use of weapons...

I don't have previous experience in martial arts, is that important in order to train ninjutsu?
Previous experience in martial arts isn't necessary, although it can help, but ninjutsu is an art pretty much different from others.

What do I need for training?
For start, sweat-suit and a t-shirt will do. Kimono is not necessary, but it is more practical because of it's resistance.
